All is quiet on New Year's Day

Good morning and Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a fantastically wonderful time. I didn't end up having to work super late; I got off at 1 which was a very pleasant surprise. We were completely full for dinner, and had some people in for drinks and dancing. Ari came at 11:58 which was (sap-ola alert) completely romantic and really sweet. I'm not the biggest fan of New Year's Eve, but having him there made it a lot nicer.

Anyway, back to yesterday's eats! We had a delicious bread spread from Silver Moon. Clockwise from the baguette: Ethiopian bread, baguette, seeded sourdough roll, pumpkin pecan muffin.

For lunch, I made a faux omelet with three egg whites, a roasted tomato, and a Laughing Cow Light cheese. Of the breads, I had a slice of Ethiopian and a wedge of pumpkin muffin.

Plus some strawberry/blueberry fruit salad with Fage:

All together with vitamins and Emergen-C. It's always sort of comical when I take vitamin after vitamin out of my little ziplock baggies... I take so many!

My aunt made her famous chocolate chip cookies, which came out of the oven right before I had to go to work. Abby snapped an ingenious shot of us with the cookie and the curling iron without burning herself... quite impressive.

We had a champagne toast at midnight as the ball dropped. Was it just me or is this the first year the ball was rainbow? The kitchen closed at 11:30, so my dinner was a little cold but still tasty. Here are some beautiful cab photos for you:

Shrimp shumai:

Goat cheese salad (it's there under all that blur, I promise!):

We're off to get breakfast. Have a swell New Year's Day!
